Today SureFire announced the availability of the new M600 AA Scout Light, their first weapon light to be powered by AA lithium or AA alkaline batteries. Like previous Scout Lights, the M600 AA uses an integral thumbscrew clamp to allow quick attachment or removal from any MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail. (Stock photos courtesy of SureFire, LLC)
Using its included lithium AA batteries, the M600 AA is rated to provide 200 lumens of output for up to 3.75 hours until output drops to 50 lumens. The M600 AA may also be powered by AA alkaline batteries which provide a more readily available and less expensive option. Output and runtime with alkaline batteries are approximately one-third that of their lithium counterparts.
A TIR (Total Internal Reflection) lens is used to create a beam with good reach while still providing peripheral lighting for situational awareness in close to mid-range uses. The M600 AA is constructed entirely of aluminum and comes equipped with a click-type tailcap that provides momentary and constant-on operation. It may also be used with any of SureFire’s plug-in remote tape switches designed for Scout Lights (available separately).

I like this particular light a lot. Single mode – 200 Lumens / 3.75 Hours / AA’s / Optic / Good throw…..
Just wish we could see one in a handheld format. I know they are trying with the PMX but a dedicated AA format outside of the Outdoorsman would be very cool in output and ergonomics. One could hope?
Good post Jim!
