SureFire Filters and Diffuser

Mini-Review: SureFire Diffuser and Beam Filters

SureFire F04-A Diffuser, F05-A Red Filter, and F06-A Blue Filter

SureFire has introduced three new attachments – the F04-A Diffuser, F05-A Red Filter, and F06-A Blue Filter – made to accommodate the 1.125″ bezel used on recent flashlights and weapon lights.  Designed to slip over the bezel and remain in place using a friction fit, these new attachments allow users to modify the standard beam of their flashlight for specific tasks.

When performing close tasks, the F04-A Diffuser provides a white, evenly diffused beam.  When preservation of night vision is a priority, the F05-A Red Filter produces a beam of red light that will not degrade night vision as much as white light.  As some animals see poorly in the red spectrum this is a useful filter for hunters moving about in pre-dawn hours.  The F06-A is a blue filter designed to produce a beam of blue light which is useful for hunters tracking wounded game in the dark.  All three attachments reduce the intensity of light output making them useful for close-range, non-tactical applications such as map reading. SureFire P2X Fury

Review: SureFire P2X Fury

Surefire P2X Fury – Overview

Since its introduction in 2011, the P2X Fury has become one of SureFire’s most popular handheld flashlights and has spawned an entire family of products, each with the same 500 lumen maximum output.  At the time of their introduction, the Fury line of flashlights were the first, and only, SureFire flashlights capable of producing 500 lumens powered by only two CR123 lithium primary batteries.

The common theme throughout the various iterations of the P2X is the Cree XML emitter with options for different switch types, output modes, and body styles:

P2X-A-BK:  Single output version of the Fury equipped with a standard press for momentary, twist for constant-on switch.

P2X-B-BK:  Dual output version with a click-type switch which allows the user to partially press the switch for momentary-on low output or press further, until it clicks, for constant-on low output.  The high output mode can be accessed by returning to off and pressing or clicking again within 2 seconds.

P2XD-A-BK:  Single output version of the Fury equipped with a standard press for momentary, twist for constant-on switch.  Features a crenelated strike bezel similar to the design found on the 6PX Defender and 6P Defender series lights.

P2ZX-A-BK:  Single output version of the Fury equipped with a standard press for momentary, twist for constant-on switch.  Features the same CombatLight body design found on the Z2X.  Continue reading

SureFire EB2

Review: SureFire EB2 Backup

Surefire EB2 Backup – Overview

The SureFire EB2 Backup is a relatively compact dual-output flashlight capable of producing 500 lumens of output focused with SureFire’s new 22mm TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optic.

The EB2, like its “little brother” the EB1 Backup, provides two levels of output controlled by a single tail-cap switch. Two models are available with different methods of operation.

The EB2C variant comes equipped with a click-type switch which allows the user to partially press the switch for momentary-on high output or press further, until it clicks, for constant-on high output.  The low output can be accessed by returning to off and pressing or clicking again within 2 seconds.

The EB2T variant utilizes a tactical 2-stage switch which allows the user to partially depress the switch for momentary-on low output or fully press the switch for momentary-on high output.  Constant-on activation for low and then high mode can be achieved by twisting (tightening) the tailcap.

The MSRP of the EB2 Backup is $235.  It has a high-strength aerospace aluminum body with a Mil-Spec hard anodized finish and is available in black or desert tan.
