New Malkoff MDC 3-mode Head

Malkoff MDC HeadYet another addition has been made to the Malkoff MDC lineup with the introduction of a 3-mode (low/medium/high) head which will support Li-Ion rechargeable batteries.  As with earlier versions of the MDC head, this latest model uses the same reflector as the established M61 drop-in and is also compatible with SureFire E-series bodies.

Available with black Type III anodized finish, this newest model uses a cool (6200K) Cree XP-G2 emitter to produce 15 lumens on low, 80 lumens at medium level, and 400 lumens on high.  The head’s operating voltage ranges from 3.4 to 5 volts underscoring the fact that it is designed for Li-Ion rechargeable batteries.  Below 3.4 volts it will drop out of regulation and run in direct drive.

Retail price is $69.00 and more information is available at the Malkoff Devices website.

Malkoff M361-LMH Drop-in

Malkoff M361-LMH

Malkoff Devices has announced the introduction of their new Malkoff M361-LMH P60 style drop-in.  Just like the other modules in the M61 family, the M361-LMH has solid brass heatsink construction and uses a custom orange peel reflector designed by Don McLeish.  However, unlike any of the previous drop-in models, the new M361-LMH offers three modes of operation, a first for Malkoff Devices.

The M361-LMH’s three output levels produce 15, 80, and 400 lumens and the module is designed to be  powered only by a single Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery.  This is reflected in the module’s relatively narrow input voltage range of 3.4 – 5 volts.  Below 3.4 volts the M361-LMH will drop out of regulation and run in direct drive.  For this reason, the use of unprotected cells is not recommended.  The drop-in also includes reverse polarity protection.

Although Malkoff fans have been able to have multi-mode operation in the past, with the MD2 and its Hi-Lo ring, the Malkoff M361-LMH provides an opportunity to have multiple modes when using other hosts.  Retail price of the M361-LMH is $69.00.

Malkoff E2-Scout Head

Malkoff E2-Scout HeadMalkoff Devices has announced the new Malkoff E2-Scout head as an upgrade for 2 or 3 cell SureFire E-series and scout lights.  Based on the Malkoff MDC head, the E2-Scout head utilizes a Cree XP-G2 LED to produce approximately 325 out-the-front lumens illuminating objects at 350+ feet.  The light is described as an outstanding room lighter and short to medium range spotter.

The Malkoff E2-Scout head accepts a wide range of voltages, from 3.4 – 9 volts, allowing it to operate on two or three CR123 primary cells or one or two Lithium-Ion rechargeable batteries.  Below 3.4 volts the light will drop out of regulation and run direct drive.

Runtime for the Malkoff E2-Scout is approximately 2 hours on two CR123 primary batteries with a nice long taper as voltage drops.  Rechargeable batteries will likely shut off more abruptly when their overdischarge protection kicks in.

The head is constructed of 6061 T6 aluminum and is finished with Type III black anodizing. The design utilizes a custom orange peel reflector desgned by Don McLeish and provides reverse polarity protection.  Retail price is $69.00.
