Malkoff E2-Scout HeadMalkoff Devices has announced the new Malkoff E2-Scout head as an upgrade for 2 or 3 cell SureFire E-series and scout lights.  Based on the Malkoff MDC head, the E2-Scout head utilizes a Cree XP-G2 LED to produce approximately 325 out-the-front lumens illuminating objects at 350+ feet.  The light is described as an outstanding room lighter and short to medium range spotter.

The Malkoff E2-Scout head accepts a wide range of voltages, from 3.4 – 9 volts, allowing it to operate on two or three CR123 primary cells or one or two Lithium-Ion rechargeable batteries.  Below 3.4 volts the light will drop out of regulation and run direct drive.

Runtime for the Malkoff E2-Scout is approximately 2 hours on two CR123 primary batteries with a nice long taper as voltage drops.  Rechargeable batteries will likely shut off more abruptly when their overdischarge protection kicks in.

The head is constructed of 6061 T6 aluminum and is finished with Type III black anodizing. The design utilizes a custom orange peel reflector desgned by Don McLeish and provides reverse polarity protection.  Retail price is $69.00.
