SureFire E1D LED Defender

New SureFire E1D LED Defender

Early this morning a previously unexpected product, the E1D LED Defender, was prematurely launched on the SureFire website.  The product listing was subsequently pulled but SureFire has confirmed the E1D should be available by early May and the page is back online again.

The following information is from the published product listing:

Powered by a single 123A lithium primary battery, the E1D LED Defender is rated to provide a maximum of 300 lumens of output with a 5 lumen low mode also available.  The E1D LED Defender is listed with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $240.

With the same user interface as the extremely popular E2D LED Defender Ultra, the new E1D LED Defender features a pushbutton tailcap click switch that triggers full output with the first press (or click) and a long running 5 lumen low mode with the second press.

The outward appearance of the head appears unchanged from the E2D LED Defender Ultra with a 1.125″ bezel and SureFire’s trademark crenelated Strike Bezel design.  Output is focused by a Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens.  Measuring only 4.25″ in length, the E1D LED Defender is slightly shorter than the EB1 Backup and weighs only 3.1 ounces with batteries installed.

The E1DL Defender is an interesting looking little light and will be well received if the popularity of the E2D LED Defender is any indication.  It will be expensive, with retail prices around $170, but in line with other similar SureFire handheld flashlights.
